We are pleased to announce that we’ve delivered one of the most highly-requested features for BIM 360 Docs: detail callout hyperlinking and navigation for PDF drawings. With this new feature, when you upload your PDF drawings to the Plans or Shop Drawings folders, BIM 360 Docs will automatically create hyperlinks of your detail callouts so that it’s easy for you to find and navigate to each one.
Automatic Hyperlinking for Detail Callouts
Construction projects may have 1,000’s of documents and sheets that contain detailed information contractors, subcontractors and designers need to move the project towards completion. Linking all of these sheets makes it much easier to access information, and avoid the time-consuming process of manually navigating between sheets.
With the new callout hyperlinking feature, once PDFs have been published, users can simply click on the blue highlighted area of the callout and jump to the corresponding sheet containing the callout detail. And from there, it is simple to navigate back to the original document or navigate to another drawing — all within a single viewer. Available today for vector PDFs on the BIM 360 Docs UI, subsequent releases will support raster PDFs, as well as mobile callout linking and navigation.
